Off WordPress, without losing a single link.

Real Response Electrical is a solar, battery and electrical contractor in Victoria, and our first client. In September 2026 we moved their WordPress and Divi site to a hand-coded one.

Disclosure: Real Response Electrical is run by the founder's family. This case study is published with their permission.

The starting point

The old site ran on WordPress with the Divi page builder. It worked, but it needed constant plugin and theme updates, and every change risked breaking something.

It also carried things that could not break: a paid Google Ads landing page, links from other sites, and the enquiry forms the team relied on every day.

What we protected

  • The Google Ads landing page kept its exact address, form field names and conversion event, so campaigns ran on without a pause.
  • Redirects are only ever added, never removed, and are checked by their own test suite.
  • Lead events are only reported to analytics after the server confirms the enquiry was received.

What we built

A hand-coded site with no database and no plugins, hosted on Vercel, with privacy and accessibility built in rather than bolted on.

Tested on every change

  • Accessibility: every page scanned against WCAG 2.2 AA
  • Redirects: every old WordPress address lands on its new page
  • Forms: each form submits and validates the way it should
  • Form schemas: the server rejects anything malformed
  • Tracking: conversion events fire once, with the right names
  • Security: content-security-policy reports are handled

Every form carries a collection notice, marketing boxes start unticked, and analytics follow the visitor's consent choice.

And a product came out of it

Real Response Electrical quoted solar and batteries from a spreadsheet. That spreadsheet became the Solar Quoting Calculator, which they now use every day alongside the new site.
